This year’s 2023 holiday season book, toy, and coat drive was run and organized by 11th graders, Justin Torres and Leah Cameron. This was our second year running drive at BCS. We initiated this drive to help families in need. While some of us have the opportunity to give gifts during the holiday season, not everyone does. We partnered with Children of Promise, NYC, an organization that supports families who have been impacted by mass incarceration. This is what inspired us to want to give back to families, primarily children who may not have the opportunity to get gifts this year. It was one of our highlights this holiday season.
To be able to see bags of donations, filled with books, toys, and clothing, brought joy to our eyes. Though we did not collect as many donations as we did last year, we still enjoyed another wonderful year of giving. Knowing that the BCS donations were going to children during this holiday season was what guided this drive. We would like to congratulate and thank Stephen, Candice, Allison, Raka, Sheryl, Kara, Lauren G., Glen, and for supporting their crews in donating to the drive. We cannot wait to start the drive again next year and have an even better holiday giving season!
