In the recent session of the Cosmetology Club with Ms. Atiya, we learned the basic techniques of how to bleach hair, the importance of safety precautions, proper application methods, and how to protect the health of the hair. This was an exciting and fun learning experience to watch how dark hair turned light right before our eyes!
The club provides an opportunity for us to exchange ideas, share tips, and collaborate. Ms. Atiya creates a welcoming space where we can learn, experiment, and share our passion for hair styling. We also learn about the field of cosmetology and the career opportunities. Cosmetology is a creative trade where you can make a lucrative income!
Come join us after school on Thursdays in Ms Atiya’s 414 if you are interested in hairstyling, learning about the art of beauty, makeup, self-expression, or simply having fun through self-expression!
Glamor tips for bleaching hair:
- Make sure you have your materials, gloves, foil, bleach, bleach powder, something to mix the bleach with, a mask, and your client. Do not wash or blow dry their hair before the bleaching process.
- Place the foil onto the table and make sure you have extra at the side.
- Put on your gloves.
- Start adding your bleach and bleach powder together and start mixing
- Once you’re done mixing, part a piece of your client’s hair
- After that you get a piece of your extra foil and place it under the piece of hair you would be applying the bleach onto.
- Once that is done, grab the mixing piece with bleach on it and apply the bleach to the hair.
- Make sure you put a lot, to the point where you see no dry spots underneath the spot you’re applying it onto.
- When the piece is fully covered with a lot of bleach–make sure it does not drip–wrap the foil you have around the piece of hair, then continue to do the same process with another piece of hair.
- Once you have done the whole head or only pieces– if that’s how you want it– make sure it’s the kind of light blonde that you want. If not, apply more of the bleach to the hair and wait a few more minutes.
- Once it’s to your liking, remove the foil from the whole head. Watch the colors as they change for your desired color and look.
- Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
- When done washing your hair, blow dry your hair, and style. Make sure you use a leave-in conditioner before blow drying.
- Then you now have blonde hair! You can flat iron it or do any style that you like. Bleach can dry the hair so, be sure to keep it moisturized.
- You can use BW bleach and 20 developer.
