There are so many labels now.
They’re trying to make everyone feel represented
while the rest of us are drowning in headaches.
Hours upon hours staring at the ceiling and screaming at walls.
Upset at the world and ourselves
for not fitting into the thousands of boxes
that are piling on the new generation.
Life is now like a UPS.
Children, adolescents and gullible adults scrambling
every which way to find another label to slap on with
manufactured and peer pressured pride.
Many adolescents like me have to hide our labels
Because in the same world that constantly pressures labels
there are people that bully and shame others for the ones they’ve found.
This society is twisted more than pretzels.
Strangling the next generations,
Suffocating the last and adding gasoline on the ones before.
This society is like a game of Uno.
Constantly throwing reverses and wild cards
Just to have you suffer with plus 2 or 4 more problems
Or blocking and stopping you right in your tracks.
This society is forcing labels like shoes.
Advertising that if one size doesn’t fit there are a million more,
That you can’t do anything outside until you find the ones
that were constructed, styled and marketing just for you.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am a pawn too.
This chess game of life that puts the naive at the bottom
and feeds false hope and distractions to conceal
that the real Kings and Queens are 50+ old white men.
Now don’t get me wrong, I know there are good
50+ old white men. But hey, where are they?
They are the sacrificial bishops of deceit who are there
to misguide and disinform the pawns.
But hey, what can I do? I’m just a pawn
My voice only goes 2 paces at first
to later be able to just go 1 pace at a time.
