I know that you came here for this poetry slam session
But I’m sorry to say — I have a regretful confessional
You think you know me
A sweet girl, soft and meek
You might not believe me but I ain’t really weak
I hide my sadness behind a smile
I hide my pain behind the lifestyle
So lemme make your time worthwhile
Cuz I’m not proving to you my worth
While
You just ignore me cuz I’ll
Just file
It away
So don’t judge me. You don’t know my reason
I’m here forever not just for a season
Cause I got my knees in
The dirt
Trying to bury my past
Cause all I remember is the hurt
That you once had on blast
You know, love me, great
Hate me, even better
I’m gonna unravel you
Like a cheap Goodwill sweater
And dismiss you like a bad love letter
Cause you act like you know me
But you know no better.
